Let’s Talk About Past lives

Some people believe that when you die, you are resurrected as someone or something else but as you are ‘resurrected’ you start as new which means that you will not remember your previous ‘lives’. Your previous ‘lives’ which you should have no memory of is called your past life.

There are many ways that you can use to ‘remember’ your past life (assuming you believe you have one). The most common method is the Past Life regression technique which is a hypnosis that is done to recover your past lives’ memories. You can read more about it *here*. A more expensive or less expensive way (depending on how much you are charged) is to see a psychic that does past lives reading. But, of course, most Psychics are fake so chances are, you will only end up losing your money so I wouldn’t recommend doing it (unless you are really rich and don’t mind wasting 300-400 dollars)

There are some religion that believes in reincarnation and some that don’t. For example, Hinduism believes that you will be reincarnated to this world after you die, either as a human, animal or trees (including fruits and vegetables). It is believed that you will die and reborn repetitively in a process called Samsara. Since Hinduism believes in the concept of Karma, it is believed that if you do something good in your current life, you will be reborn as someone better (someone rich, intelligent, etc.) and if you do something bad, you will be reborn as someone of a lower status (someone poor, or even an animal).

In Hinduism, it is believed that your purpose of living is to reach the liberation state which is also known as Moksha. After reaching this state, you will be free from all the ‘worldly’ temptation, and wouldn’t be reborn again as you would be in heaven. Basically, there is four objectives of life according to Hinduism : the truth, the pursuit of success, the pursuit of pleasure, and liberation (Dharma, Artha, Kama, and Moksha) which Moksha being the ‘highest’ state you can reach.

Some religion, believes in resurrection but not reincarnation meaning that you will be ‘reborn’ in the same body. For example, in Christianity, it is believed that Jesus Christ will be resurrected as said in the bible: And he began to teach them, that the Son of man must suffer many things, and be rejected of the elders, and of the chief priests, and scribes, and be killed, and after three days rise again (Mark 8:31). There are many other verses in the bible that suggest resurrection is possible and is a thing for example: If he hadn’t been looking forward to the resurrection of the dead, then it would have been unnecessary and frivolous to pray for them (2 Maccabees 12:44).

There are some reasons why people believe in Past Life. The most famous reason is because someone actually remembered their past life. The most case would be The Case of Anne Frank and Barbo Karlen. As you know, Anne Frank died in 1945 at the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp. A few years later, a girl named Barbo Karlen is born. Since she was a kid, Barbo Karlen often said that her parents are not her real parents. She also had a reoccurring dream of men breaking through the attic door. One day, she visited Amsterdam with her parents and she was able to find Anne Frank’s house without any maps or without asking anyone for directions. She even knew what the inside of the house looks like and it is reported that she took her parents to Anne Frank’s hiding place. Of course, there is no way to prove that this story is indeed real and isn’t fabricated in any way.

There are theories that birthmarks are connected to your past life. Basically, it shows how you died in your past life. In Thailand, a women who is dying wanted to be reincarnated as a boy. Therefore, her daughter mark a white paste behind the women’s neck. Later, the daughter gave birth to a son who has the same white mark on his neck.

There is also a theory that Past Life is the reason why many people experiences Déjà Vu (already seen). Déjà Vu is when you are sure you had done something or see something before. There are many reports of people remembering how to navigate through places they had never been to before and there are even reports of people being able to predict the future as a result of experiencing Déjà Vu. They claim that if you remember having been in some place before it means that during your past life, you lived there. Of course there is many more theories about Déjà Vu such as the world being a simulation which is a topic for another time. There are other theories that say the world is just a simulation and that after we die, we will just “restart” as someone else. They believe that remembering who you were before is just some glitch because your ‘memory’ wasn’t “emptied” properly.
